Another BookHaul

Here is my last book haul for 2017. These books I picked up at the library book store. I had a $5 gift card that I received from the summer reading program. I know they are hard to read; I am trying to get better at taking photos. I spent around $15.
These are the books I picked up at Barnes and Noble. They sent me a $10 gift card for Christmas and I also had a coupon for 30% off one book. Again not a good view. My cat decided she needed to be in the photo.
I am hoping to get most of these read in 2018. I also received a few books for Christmas which I will post next and I want to mention a few reading challenges I am interested in for next year.
Please stay tuned for those. Until next time keep reading.

Week Three Reads

This was a good week of reading. I didn't have a great deal happening for the week before Christmas.
As you can see I actually got two Christmas books read. The Christmas Shoes is a sad story based off a song or vice versa. I haven't watched the movie yet but do own it. I don't know if I will this year because as of this posting it is already the day after Christmas. The song is sad as is the book and so will the movie be. I just don't know if I'm ready for more tears. I love the book though and does have a lesson in it. The after life of Holly Chase is a retelling of The Christmas Carol but set in modern times. It starts out a little slow but does pick up and ends up being a great book.
Little Britches I read to David and started it last month. It is the first book of a series and we will most likely not finish the series. You do not have to the finish the series because this book is fine as a stand alone. It is about a family who move to Colorado and rent a farm to help improve the father's health. It talks about the struggles and learning that the boy goes through.
Shadow Puppets is the third book of the Ender's Shadow series. This book focuses more on Bean and Petra and what their life together intel's. I have been listening to this series on audio book, in the author recommends that you do.
The Alloy of Law is the fourth book in the Mistborn series. This book takes place about 300 years later and has a new group of people. After the last book I read I will have to say I am not into this second half of the series but will read the next one to see where it heads. Personally I sometimes wish authors would stop adding to series when they are supposedly ended.

This was actually the first book I read this week. This finishes up the Luxe series. Again Tara has a review of this series on her blog, that I have mentioned before.
So for the week I have read 1845 pages. As I said before it was a great week for reading.
Until next time keep reading.

Second Week of December Reads

December is turning out to be a tough month for reading. For these last two weeks I have been busy and unable to get a lot of reading done. I only read two books this week and one I have been reading for a month and yes finally finished it.
Product Details
This is the first book I finished. I listened to it while I was working on things around the house and running errands. It has 405 pages. Tara has done a review on this book on her blog called biggsbookreview.blogspot.com. She has actually done the whole series, I am letting you know this because I am currently listening to the last book in this series. More on that next week.

Product Details
This is the book that has taken me a month to finish. I physically read this book. It has 724 pages but for this month I read 361 pages. I did not like this book as much as the other two books. That is probably why it took me so long to read. Aryan actually didn't finish it. Again Tara has a mini review on her blog mentioned above.

So for this week I read a total of 766 pages, not to bad for a busy week.
Until next time keep reading.

Favorite Booktubers on YouTube

I know I didn't post yesterday; trying to figure out something to write about.
I have decided to share the booktubers I watch on YouTube.
Binge Reader  is one that I enjoy. She loves Stephen King.  I have only read four of books. I have a few others I want to read and my husband wants me to read a few that he likes. I really don't like scary books and yes I know some of his books aren't scary.
Book ables is another one I like because she has a lot knowledge about books and gives great recommendations.
Hailey in Bookland is another one I watch. She is more into YA but that is okay because I have two boys that age. She is full of energy and has great videos.
Pages and Pens also has different contents and reads a variety of different books. There are a few things she doesn't like mentioned in books she reads and she lets her viewers know.
Books and LaLa readers mysteries and thrillers. I like her channel because her content is very informative and fun. She also tells you about new books coming out, movies and TV series. This year she did a closet unhaul every month and I enjoyed it; I hope she continues.
Donald Loves Literature is new to booktube. He hasn't put much out. I only watch him because he is around the age of my son. I want to support young people trying something they like to do.
Little Book Owl is the last one I watch. She lives in Australia. She hasn't put out much lately but she has some fun things on her channel.
I hope this helps you in trying to find someone to watch to give you book recommendations or something fun to watch.
Keep reading until next time.

1st full week of December - What I read

This was a very busy week for me so I didn't get a lot read. The Shadow of Hegemon I actually started listening to in November and finally finished listening to it. This is based off Ender's Game but using the other characters in this story. It was an okay book and I will finish the series but not as good as The Ender Series.
The Cross-Eyed Bear is a short story I received in my Page Habit box. I wanted something fast to read. I am still a little confused about the ending and will probably have to read it and spend more time on the plot.

Visions of Sugar Plums was another book I listened to. This has been the only Christmas based I have read so far. I enjoyed this book but I jumped over some of the series to listened to this so I found out some things and now defiantly need to read the rest.
How to Get Organized is an e-book I received for free. I am on their newsletter and they were giving them away for a short period and I jumped on it. It is another short read and gives you lots of ideas and tips to get started on organizing.
So in total this week I read 769 pages. Not bad for a busy week.

December Book Haul

I know it is only the 10th of December but I am going to share what I have bought so far this month.
I bought Ringer and Renegades from Barnes and Noble. Ringer is the second book in a series and sad to say I still haven't read the first book. Renegades is a new book by Marissa Meyers, I did enjoy her Lunar series so hopefully I will enjoy this one. I wasn't thrilled with Heartless, but I that isn't saying much because I am not an Alice in Wonderland fan.
The other books I purchased through Book Outlet on their Black Friday Sale. I am putting it under December Haul because I just got them in the mail. I have been wanting to read the Leavers and finally picked up the book. There is a TV series based on this book called Orange is the new Black and want to try the book. The Book Jumper looked and sounded interesting on the web site so again want to give it a try. The cookbook I use to own and don't know where it went so picked up another. In case you can't read it it is The Little House Cookbook. The rest I just heard about and want to give them a try. Everything was 30% so it was a good time to try them.
I have another book coming but hasn't arrived yet so I will post about it later.
Until the next post happy reading.

December TBR

Product DetailsProduct DetailsProduct DetailsProduct Details
Here is December's TBR. I have decided to read mostly Christmas stories this month. There are a few that are not Christmas. Also I want to finish the three books from last month that I mentioned on my other blog. You can read that at Paynenews.blogspot.com. Envy, Splendor, and Visions of Sugar Plums will be audio books since I don't own them and the library has them on their version of overdrive. With it being December lets see how well I do with y reading. I have a pretty busy month with Christmas parties and getting things ready for next year.
I will keep you updated as I finish a book or my plans for the coming year.
