Barnes and Noble Haul

Yes I bought more books. I had to go to Barnes and Noble and get Mike's niece a gift card for her birthday. While I was there I picked up a few books. I know you can't see a couple very but I will tell you what I bought. There was a new Mary Higgins Clark book out so that was a must buy. She is such a great writer and I love her mysteries. Also I found another book on Laura Ingalls Wilder. Her children's book is what really got me into reading. I have read her books so many times that I stopped counting. I try to always pick up the books if they are by her or about her and her family. She was my favorite growing up even though she was no longer living. The next book is one I have heard about and has receive a high rating so of course I had to buy it. The Wicked Deep by: Shea Ernshaw is about three sisters who were killed two centuries ago for witch craft. They come back every summer into three troubled girls bodies to kill a young man. That is all I will tell you about this book. The book you really can't see is called Hello, Universe by: Erin Entrada Kelly. This is the 2018 Newbery award winner. I am collecting all these books. I almost have all of them except for a few which I can't find. Don't know anything about this book. This was a surprise find because I wasn't expecting to find it out yet. The next book is a book of complete stories by Dorothy Parker. Don't know anything about her or her writing. This will be new territory for me. The last book is a book of poetry called the sun and her flowers by: Rupi Kaur. I have been trying to read a little more poetry. It is not my favorite thing to read but trying to expand my reading. It is always hard for me to narrow down the books I want to buy because there are so many that I want to read. I have several bookcases in my new home with unread books on them. The read books are in storage. There are many boxes of those as well.
Hope this gives you some ideas of what I like to read and willing to try.
Until next time keep reading.

What I have read so far in April

It looks like April will be another slow reading month. The first week o April these are the books I have read. I finished the 2nd book of the Michael Vey series. I gave it only 3 stars. I am finding that I don't usually like the additional books in a series. Girl in Pieces I gave 4 stars. Beware if you read this book. It talks about suicide, drugs, drinking and cutting. It gives you insight in what these people are thinking. Ludlow is a book written in verse telling us about Ludlow and leading up to the events of the massacre at the mining camp. I gave this book only 3 stars. I love history but didn't like how it was written. The Girl who drank the moon I gave 3 stars. This book I read to David. It is also a Newberry Award book. Total pages for this week was 1236
The second week I read only four books. I only have three in the picture I will include the fourth at the end. The Crossover is another book that I read to David. I gave it 4 stars. This was written in verse also. It talks about basketball and twins who love to play and are on the school team. They are the top players. Their dad also played professional before an injury to his knee and he refused to have surgery. This book was good told in verse. The Images of Pueblo is a history book of photos about Pueblo. I gave this 5 stars. I loved this book and all the photos. I will be listening to the authors talk about this book on Saturday at our DAR meeting. I wanted to make sure that I read it before the program. The small book by The Crossover is called El Pueblo History Museum. I gave this book 5 stars also. This books talks about Pueblo and the Pueblo and what happened and how it I now. This also has photos. Nothing makes a history book more exciting than pictures. I just love looking at the photos about the past.
Career of Evil (A Cormoran Strike Novel)This is the last book for the 2nd week that I read. I actually listened to it on audiobook. I gave it 3 stars. I didn't really enjoy this series. I did have to finish it though because that is how I roll. It is the second book about a PI in England. I can't remember if I told you about the first book or not. He is starting his own business because he is disable by having only one leg from a wound he received in war I think. He has apart time secretary who helps him solve cases whom he secretly likes. He doesn't get too many cases so is always short on money. He is given a new case and they work together to solve this case. It is kind of a mystery novel. I personally think there is way to much bad language used in this book.
Total pages for this week was 919.
I am working on several books at the moment but haven't finished any of them yet. Until next time keep reading.

April Book Of The Month

As you know I get some of my books from this club every month. You at able to choose up to three books a month. The first book is 14.99 and the other two books cost 9.99 each. The books are hardback and new. Shipping is free. You don't have to get any books if you don't want to for the month. Most of the books I get are mystery because I like them. Every now and then I get a different genre. So onto the books. The first book I chose because I have heard a lot about and I have decided it was time to see what the hype is about. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by: Taylor Jenkins Reid is a contemporary book. This book is about an actress who has decided to allow someone to write about her life. She chooses a less known reporter to be the writer. The reporter is going through some rough times and can't figure out why she was chosen to be the writer. Then She Was Gone by: Lisa Jewel is a thriller about a teenage girl who disappears. They don't know how or where she went. She has been missing for 10 years. Because this is a thriller I don't want to know to much about it before I read it. The last book I picked up is Our Kind of Cruelty by: Araminta Hall. This book is a darkly twisted love story- one that draws razor-sharp lines between love and obsession, between truth and perception, and dares you to pick a side. This sounds oh so good to read. Here is my referral link if you are interested in giving this a try you will get a free book. https://www.mybotm.com/0cxpwrpoiqlivn29
I hope you give this a try, I know you won't regret it.
Until next time keep reading.

March Wrap up/April TBR

Ever the Brave (A Clash of Kingdoms Novel)
This is the last book I read in March. It had 452 pages. I gave this book 3.5 stars.
So for March I read 9 books that totaled 3002 pages. I have done a lot better in January and February, but this wasn't to bad considering that I was moving.

My April TBR is going to be a catch up month. I have books from previous months that I need to finish. January had only one book that I didn't finish and it is Blackberry Pie Murder by: Joanne Fluke. February I have three books which are On The Fence by: Kasie West , The Martian by: Andy Weir and The Cruel Prince by: Holly Black. March I have one book and that is The Essex Serpent by: Sarah Perry. I have started this book and I am not liking it so far.
If I have time I have a few months from last year that I also need to read. They are starting in October two books not read which are A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline and Final Girls by: Riley Sager. November  I didn't finish 9 books which are Wild Beauty by: Anna-Marie McLemore, Flame in the Mist by: Renee Ahdieh, Like Water by: Rebecca Podos, History is All You Left Me by: Adam Silvera, A Killer Harvest by: Paul Cleave, No Longer a Slumdog by: K.P. Yohannan, Little Fires Everywhere by: Celeste Ng. Two of the books not read in this month I moved to my February TBR. So I really need to get them read since I listed them twice. Last but not least is December with 6 books not read. They are Candy Cane Murder, Plum Pudding Murder, Gingerbread Cookie Murder and Christmas Caramel Murder all by Joanne Fluke. The Magic of Christmas by a variety of authors and Sugar and Spice by: Fern Michaels.
If you add that up it comes to 20 books which isn't hard for me to do but I am still working on getting things done with the new house and the old house. I can already tell you that I haven't done much reading on any of these books. I have been reading though. You will see that in the next post.
I hope everyone is able to get in some reading time and until next time keep reading.

March Barnes and Noble Haul

This is a very small bookstore haul for March. I have been moving and really haven't had to time to read or shop.
Onto the books that I bought; Obsedio is the third book in a young adult science fiction series I have been reading. This may surprise some of family because I don't usually read science fiction. I love this series and even though the books have over 600 pages they are quick reads. What makes the books so fun for me to read is the different writing style. I have talked about the first book, Illuminae before and I highly recommend that you read them.
Raspberry Danish Murder by Joanne Fluke is another mystery book series that my daughter, Tara got me into. If I counted right it is the 24th book in the series. I am behind in reading them by a long shot because I have read only the first two. Need to get reading. These books also come with recipes at the end of some of the chapters.
The Librarian of Auschwitz by: Antonio Iturbe is about two things I love. #1 it is about a librarian and #2 it is about history. Now I know that Auschwitz was a terrible place so I am not thrilled about what this camp did but really want to know what this 14 year girl did to survive. This book is based on a true story so can't wait to read it.
Arcanum Unbounded By: Brandon Sanderson is a collection of short stories. For me I only want to read one story out of this book. I had to buy this book to get to read the only story I wanted. That story is called Secret History. This has to do with the Mistborn series. This little story is suppose to give you a little background about Kelsier.
Well that is it  for today. I hope everyone will have a chance to get a little reading done.

February Page Habit box

Just a quick post on what I received in my page habit box. This is really late. I don't get my box until the last day of the month.
This month I decided to order another book with my normal order. It was a little bit more money. I normally get the mystery box and decided to add the young adult book also. I am sorry that the picture isn't very good, I was in a hurry. The match books are actually little post it notes. I think they are cute and will be used. As always we get a book mark and a small sample book. I am behind on my sample book reading. This time we got a hat which would normally be good but not this season for we haven't received much or any snow this time around.
This month they gave to Ethiopia. I like knowing that each month they give to a different country in your name to help promote reading.
Now onto the books.
The Glass Forest By: Cynthia Swanson is a mystery novel. It is based in Wisconsin in 1960. I have never heard of this author before so will see how she writes. I don't want to go into to much detail because it is a mystery.
The Apocalypse Of Elena Mendoz By: Shaun David Hutchinson. This book is about a girl who is the product of a virgin birth. This is a young adult mystery. The girl has some unexplained power. Again I am not going into detail because the inside of the book is telling me it is a mystery and I don't want to know.
I really enjoy this box and the books you get because the author gives you notes on what they were thinking about when they wrote certain passages.
Until next time keep reading.

March Book Of The Month

First of all sorry about not posting much for the month of March. I have been moving from one house into another.
These are the books I picked out for the Book of the Month club. As normal I still haven't read them. I actually haven't read much in March. I am hoping to pick up my reading this month, but we will see since we are trying to get the other house ready to sale.
Now onto the books. Not That I Could Tell By: Jessica Strawseris a Mystery based in a small town in Ohio. There is a disappearance in this small town and several people are under investigation. That is all I can tell you about this book. I don't want to know to much since it is a mystery.
The Last Equation Of Isaac Severy By: Nova Jacobs is another mystery. I love my mysteries. Isaac Severy dies apparently by suicide. His granddaughter receives a letter from before he dies which questions if he killed himself. Again this is a mystery and I don't want to know much before I read it.
The Astonishing Color of After By: Emily X.R. Pan is a young adult book. It is about a girl who goes to Taiwan after her mom dies to be with her grandparents. She is trying to find her mom who has turned into a bird after she died. This sounds like another mystery but I am not sure. The young girl is grieving the lost of her mom so who knows.
All of these books sound interesting and I can't wait to read them.
Until next time keep reading.
