Page Habit Box

My January Page Habit box arrived on Saturday the 27th. I wanted to wait until the last day of the month to post my unboxing. This is how the box comes in the mail. My address is on the other side.
I couldn't get the lid to stay open so I had to hold it while I took a picture. This is what you see when you open it. The top piece of paper is from the author of the book that you receive.
Here is what came in this month's box. There is a clip like bookmark just in front of the book which isn't seen very well. You also get another bookmark and this one has Harry Potter on it, which is great. You get a mini short story and some small pencils. I was actually excited about the book I received because I wanted this book and almost bought it at Barnes and Noble. The card in front tells you about the country they sent books to this month.
Here is a better photo of the card.
Here is my referral code if you would like to try a box. https://pagehabit.com/accept-invite?inviter=108385&platform_id=00&product_id=936&utm_source=referral&utm_medium=link
I think it is a great box because they are helping other poorer areas with getting books out to children.
Until next time keep reading.

24in48 challenge results

Well I did not do very well on this challenge. I knew I would have a hard time do to my busy week end. The photo below shows you how much time I had left to get to 24 hours of reading. I decided to work back from 24 hours. I only got about 12 hours and 30 minutes read. I started and finished 1 book which The Sign Of the Beaver. I finished two books already started. They were The Sword in The Stone which I was reading to David and Broken Date which David needed to read for school. That is where I spent most of my time. David is a really slow reader and to help him we took turns reading. All in all it was fun trying to do but next time I really need to check my schedule better before I sign up for a challenge like this again. Until next time keep reading.

24in48hours TBR

Below are the books I will try to read during this readathon. First of all what is a 24in48?  Well it basically means taking 48 hours and trying to read 24 hours worth. The last time I signed up to do this challenge I totally forgot to do it. Well this time I have a few things going on but will give it my best shot. So without further delay here are the books.

Otherworld
I have already started this book so lets see if I can finish it.

Lists to Live By: For Everything That Really Matters
I have also started this book so lets see if I can finish this one as well. This is a quick read so I should be able to.

Lists to Live By: The Second Collection
This is the second book. These two books have been on my shelf for a long time so now is the time to get them read.
The Sign of the Beaver
This book I will listen to on Audio as I get myself ready for my busy weekend. It is a short book so won't take long.

A Child Called It: One Child's Courage to Survive
I have had many people tell me I need to read this book. I have put it off because I know it will make me cry. So here it is on this list to finally get read.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
This book has short stories in it so should be another quick read for me. I have read most of his books but not this one or the next one I will post below.

The Umbrella Man and Other Stories
Another book by Roald Dahl that I haven't read.
The Boy on a Black Horse
Another book that has been on my shelves for a long time.
Stuart Little
Here is the last book I will try to read. Yes I have not read this book. I have seen the movie though.
As you can see I put a lot of middle grade books on this shelf because I can read them fairly quickly and it means more books off my shelves instead of reading a couple of fat ones instead.
I will try to keep you posted on my progress.
The event starts tomorrow at 12:01AM and ends on Sunday at 11:59PM.
I will be keeping tract of my time with the stopwatch on my phone and taking pictures of it from time to time.
Until I post again keep reading.

Barnes and Noble book haul

Yes I have another book haul. This one is from Barnes and Noble. I usually go when I have a coupon and they usually send one every month or so. The three books in this photo are from the same author. The two paper back books finish up a series I want to try and heard nothing but great things about this series so I want to give a try. The other one is a book of short stories, again great remarks about this book.
This duology is more for Aryan to read. I always have a hard time finding something for him to read. These books sounds like something he would enjoy reading. Even the covers are right up his way of thinking and enjoyment. Heard good things about the first book and the second book just came out so here is hoping he enjoys them. I will also read them because I like to know what he is reading. I did this with most of my children.
These books I got for half price and heard good things about them. Actually Night Circus got mixed reviews. Sometimes other peoples are great and sometimes not. I have read many books and really enjoyed them while other people didn't like them and vice versa.
Well, I hope this helps you in finding something good to read and until next time keep reading.

Book of the Month and Book outlet haul

This is the book I chose for my Book of the Month book. I almost picked out another one but decided not to. This book takes place in 1918 during the first world war and the Spanish flu. It is something I would enjoy reading.
These are the books I picked up during the unboxing sale at Book Outlet. I got all these books for $35.00. The only one I read is the Last Stop on Market Street. It is a Newbery Award winner. I am collecting all of these books. I have almost all of them there are a few out of print. I haven't decided if I want to spend the money on them because they are a lot more money. As you can see I picked up a couple of books about the Revolutionary War. I think there are more books to this series but I am not sure. I also picked up another mystery novel by Margaret Truman. She does a great job on writing about mysteries in the DC area.. The other six books I picked up because they were mentioned by some of the You- Tubers I watch. I want to give them a try.
Well that is all for now so until next time keep reading.

January TBR

Here is what I plan on reading for January. As you can see I have included some of my new books from previous hauls. I also have a library book or two included. I have read the small book on top already plus the picture of Dorian Gray that isn't shown. I am in the middle of Autoboyography and liking it so far. Also I am listening to Brandon Sanderson's book number 6 in the Mistborn series. This is the last book until October of this year when book 7 comes out.
My goal this year is to read 150 books which is doable for me. I will probably add a couple more books to read this month if I get these done. To reach my goal I need to read 12.5 books in a month.
I haven't figured out the others I want to read for the month. I will have to see what kind of mood I am in. This gives me a head start.
Until next time keep reading.

Christmas Gifts and Page Habit Box

As I mentioned in a previous post I would show you the books I received for Christmas. This is the 6th book to the Work and Glory Series that my girls got for me. I had the whole the series and then I loaned out this book and have never received it back so the girls decided to replace it for me. The next book is another book to a series that I have yet to read. I will get around to it when I don't know. The next two are older books that my parents bought for me. I love older books. The red one is an old history book dated 1874. The one I am excited about is this DAR (Daughter of the American Revolution) Magazine. It is dated 1916. I loved all my gifts but this one was a great joy to see.
This is what I received in the December Page Habit box. It wasn't a big box of items but that is okay. Not pictured is a keychain I didn't see because it slipped under the shredded paper. This month they sent books to Sierra Leone. I have never heard of that country before. I enjoy knowing that my box is giving a child a book.
Until next time keep reading.

Last Week December Reads

Here is what I read for the last week of December. I actually got a lot of reading done this week. It is amazing what one can read when things slow down. A lot of the books were short middle grade books that I have had around the house for awhile and decided to get them read since they are quick reads for me. I am sorry you really can't see the titles but I will write them here. I finally got Harry Potter and the cursed child read. I liked it but do have a hard time reading a book in script or play format. I read this book to David so even though it only took Aryan and Tara one day to read it took me most of the month to read. The next book is a short biography about J.K. Rowling. The book is a middle grade biography. The next one is Orange is the new Black. This book has been around for a while and Netflix has a series about this book. I listened to this book. I wasn't a huge a fan of it. The next two books were by Roald Dahl and they are Esio Trot and  The Vicar of Nibbleswicke. I didn't even know these books were around until I went to use book store and saw them and picked them up. They were nice quick reads and I enjoyed them. Of course I like most of his books. Onto the next biography which is Crispus Attucks. I never heard of him before even though I should have known. I will give a spoiler here he was the first man who was killed in the Boston Massacre.  He was born into slavery and eventually escaped and became a harpooner. I love history and so enjoy learning something new; and I really like this time period. The last book I read was the Black Pearl. This book is the sequel to the Pearl by Scott O'Dell. Again I am not a fan of this author. I have read many of his books and I just struggle with his writing. I keep trying though.
Product Details
I lied this was the last book I read. Actually I listened to this book. This is book 5 of the Mistborn series. I am not liking these last couple of books to this series. You really don't need to read these books because it is a different story line than the first 3 books. These books are just a spin off of the original.
So for the week I read 2300 pages. This was a really good week.
So for the total number of books I read for the year ended up being 224 books. My goal for 2018 is to at least read 150 books. And I will probably pass that but who knows.
Until next time keep reading.
