January 2017

January books

I just thought you might be interested in the books that we read this month. Okay some of them are audio books. I didn't get pictures of all the books. The books not pictured that we read are The Burning Tide by Jonathan Auxier (this was read to David). Lye in Wait by Cricket McRae, another mystery. The Mistletoe Secret by Richard Paul Evans. Hermione Granger like the ones in picture three. Coal People by Rick J. Clyne this is a history book about miners. I love to read about history and mysteries. Night of the ninth dragon by Mary pope Osborne (David read this for school). The Audio books we listened to I survived the Nazi Invasion and the Battle of Gettysburg both by Lauren Tarshis. Stardust by Neil Gaiman (recommended by Ashley). The next bunch of books are by William Shakespeare Hamlet, Pericles: Prince of Tyre, Timon of Athens, All of Henry the fourth, all of Henry the sixth, Henry the fifth, Henry the eigth and Richard the third. William Shakespeare is more enjoyable to listen to than to read. I listen to books when I am cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing or cleaning the house. It makes it more enjoyable. Besides there are many books out there that I want to read but I simply don't have enough time so this helps and I love it. I also listen to books in the car when we are driving around or I am waiting to get the boys from school. Since the radio has so many ads it gets frustrating so I do this instead. Until next month and I will try to remember to get pictures of all the books.

November 2017 book Haul

November Book Haul

Here are the books that I bought this month. Not too many this month. There wasn't a book sale through the library and I didn't make it to the thrift store this month. Some of these book I bought when I was in Connecticut.  In the first photo I ordered two books from the Book of the Month Club, one is about the Oregon Trail and the other is written by Tom Hanks so wanted to see how he writes since I like his acting. May Higgins Clark came out with a new book so of course I had to buy it. There is also a new book about Laura Ingalls Wilder, she was my favorite growing up. The Robert Frost book is something new I want to try reading. The little book on the end is the book I got at one of the stores in Massachusetts.
The second photo are two books one of the managers recommended for me to read. One is an author from Denver which is close to home. The other two were recommended from some you tube channel I watch. Our Dark Duet is actually the second book in a series and yes I do have the first book.
Looking forward to reading these in the next few months.

November 27-30 books read

The last four days of November I only got two books read. The total pages for the two books was 856. Tara has already done a review on this series in her book blog called biggsbookreview.blogspot.com. There are two books in this series.

So for the month of November I read 16 books which came to a total of 4749 pages. I have 3 books I didn't finished. That is pretty good for taking off a week of reading.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It read quickly and kept you turning pages.
The story takes place in a little town in California. There is a family that when the story starts are the only black family and then across the start a new black family moves in. The new family is only a mom and daughter. The other family is a daughter and her two dads. They become friends even though they are nothing a like. Alberta is from the other family that has live in the town since she can remember and Edie is from New York and dealing with the divorce of her parents. Al loves to surf and her best friend is going through some issues and so she starts to hang out with Edie which she is excited about. Edie misses her dad and is learning how to deal with this loss. Edie finds some old journals in the attic of her new home and she invites Al over to read them. There is a mystery about these journals. What is in the journals and what is the mystery about them? You have to read the book to find out.
I had a blast reading this book and gave it 5 stars. I highly recommend that you read it.
