I would like to thank both William Morrow and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
Book Review:
I enjoyed this book and gave it 4 stars. It was an easy read and went fairly quick.
This book starts out as the pandemic starts and there are some triggers so beware of those. The warners are death of parent and spouse and suicide. This book is told in a dual time in my opinion. The dual part is through magazine articles and letters.
In the current timeline a young woman is dealing with loss of her spouse and isn't sure what she truly wants to do. One day she sees an ad for the sale of a home and bookstore. The catch is the new owner has to start up the bookstore again before the trust fund will allow the purchase.
In the past timeline you have a young librarian and a magazine writer who meet at a camp for lesbians. They become interested in each other at the camp and continue with the relationship afterwards. The librarian is going to move to New York to be with her new friend, but her brother isn't doing well at home, and she needs to be there for him. The writer decides that she will make the move instead and there is a home not far from the librarian and decides to buy it and do articles on how she fixes it up. This is told through her articles and the letters that the librarians write
The new widow decides to buy the house and bookstore with cash to start a new life. The book talks about her struggles with her loss and how to make the home and store work for her. She struggles but is able to make new friends along the way and they help her.
I like how the author writes and it makes you feel like you are there for all the struggles in both timelines. I like the friendships and relationships also. I would recommend this book.
